Abhishek Agarwal asked:

Iguanas are wild creatures that prefer to live in wide and large ecosystem. They stay high in the trees.

It is more for safety that they spend their day high up in trees, far away from predators and enemies. Iguanas have the talent to hide away from enemies. This is because they can jump from a great height without getting hurt.

Today, their lives are in danger. They are being eaten and caught by wild animals. Thus it is our duty to preserve them.

You can help iguanas from getting extinct in case you are a pet or animal lover by saving them from their predators. They can be taken as pets and brought up with great care and affection.

But this would need proper planning, here are some preliminary measures that have to be taken.

The first and foremost thing is to build an enclosure or a cage building an enclosure or cage. This can be done only if they feel home in the new cage you build.

Here are few tricks in building a nice home for you Iguanas:

1. Search for an enclosure that is secured and spacious. A big closet or a large room will be nice place where in they can roam. Artificial branches and plants can be hung for it to have the feel of a wild environment. The size should vary with age of the Iguana. A cage with no hole will be fine, else there are chances for them to escape. Once it grows you can keep changing the atmosphere to fit its requirement. This can be done once it gets habituated with the new home.

2. The air circulation is an important factor that has to be considered. A cheap comfy closet will be perfect to satisfy the need. For regulation of air a low-cost, quiet and a small fan can be used. The mildew can be prevented if there is proper regulation in the new cage. The humidity and temperature of the cage can be raised with circulation. The walls can be washed using bleach and water if in case a problem with mildew occurs.

3. A heating pad can be used in the night time to warm up the atmosphere. A bulb consuming less electricity can be used. A 75 watt light would do the job.

4. Give your Iguana time to adapt to the new home. They might hurt themselves or traumatize in a new home. Their reaction would be by scratching and rubbing the walls. It will be better that you spend the first few days with your Iguana. Try to create a bond with the pet till it gets used to the new environment.

5. The electrical connections have to be carefully placed. They are very intrusive creatures, you will find them trying to climb and jump hot light equipments and accessible wiring.

6. Lastly, keep the cage far away from pests. The left over foods should be removed as early as possible.

The process of building a home for Iguana can fun and simple. You will have an accurate for your Iguana by just following the above given steps.

Paul Bryan asked:

Buying a turtle as a pet requires some forethought and planning, much like buying any other pet. There are a few important considerations to go over, such as what kind of turtle you want, what its needs are and whether you will be able to provide for it.

A lot of people assume that having turtles as pets does not require a lot of work or care. In fact, buying turtles and bringing them home as a pet takes a lot of commitment and care.

The average life expectancy for turtles is around fifty years and that is one of the main things to consider when you want to buy a turtle. Especially if you are buying a turtle as a pet for a child. While turtles are easier to care for than certain kinds of pets, they do still need love and attention and the proper environment and diet to be able to have a healthy life.

Depending on the type of turtle you choose as your pet, you will need to do the proper amount of research in order to know what kind of environment that they need to live in and what they require for food.

Most pet turtles have similar needs as far as diet is concerned that is basically a variety of fresh vegetables, lettuce being one of the most popular choices. (Avoid iceberg lettuce, however, as this can cause diarrhea.) There are different kinds of turtles you can look into owning, including semi-aquatic turtles and fully terrestrial ones.

They are all similar in a lot of ways but each one has specific needs and you should talk to an expert at your pet store when buying one. You need to pick a turtle that is most suited to your own home life and your ability to provide it a good life. Some pet turtles do not require as much in the way of special lighting and heating conditions as others, so you should make sure you know enough about the different kinds of pet turtles when you want to buy one and take it home as your next pet.

You can have a wonderful relationship with your pet turtle, and many people who take the time to get to know all about their turtle find that it is possible to create a fulfilling and rewarding bond with them.

Paul Bryan asked:

When it comes to the care of your pet turtle or terrapin are you sure you know what you’re doing? Or perhaps you’ve read up on it a little but find you keep forgetting important things, like changing its water every three days or so?

Turtles actually need a pretty well thought-out environment to live happily in, as well as a lot more care and attention than people realize.

Probably one of the best ways to keep reminding yourself of how to care for your pet is to pin a ‘care sheet’ somewhere really obvious, like above the turtle’s tank for instance.

This care sheet can be one you print out from a good website or one you create yourself using information from different sources. In any case, the more research you do, the better.

One of the most important aspects to turtle care is, obviously enough, what you feed them. What are less obvious are the subtle differences between turtle types in terms of what to feed them and at what age. A general rule of thumb is if it’s a baby turtle you feed it meat (cooked or fat-free) and as it gets older you start adding more and more leafy greens to its diet. Older turtles will be almost entirely herbivorous but a balanced diet is still essential.

But does a slider eat the same thing as a painted turtle? And what precisely does a terrapin eat? (A terrapin, by the way, is usually just the term used for pet turtle in the United Kingdom so you need to figure out what kind of ‘terrapin’ you have before finding the right care sheet for it.)

Further, what on earth is the right environment for a box turtle? (Also known as a tortoise, the box turtle is a fully terrestrial reptile so do not put it in water, it will drown. And die.)

Then again, you’ve got details like nutrition supplements and ambient temperature to think about. There are mineral and vitamin supplements you can add to your turtle’s diet about once a week or so but how much is right for your pet?

What kind of turtle needs what kind of supplement? It is generally advisable to put a calcium block in the turtle’s dry habitat for them to snack on occasionally. That helps to ensure good shell health, as do daily doses of unfiltered, natural sunlight.

In any case, a turtle care sheet that you create and keep updating regularly as you learn more about your turtle can make all the difference. If you are away on a trip, for instance, or your turtle out-lives you (some grow to be a hundred years old!), then the care sheet will ensure that your pet continues to be cared for in the best possible way.
